As the name indicates, you\u2019ll get to <strong>see 10 waterfalls when hiking the entire loop<\/strong> \u2013 only one reason why the Trail of Ten Falls is an extraordinary Oregon hike. <em>South Falls<\/em> are probably the most impressive and you can access the viewpoint via a short walk from the parking lot. The trail leads <strong>through old-growth forest, follows a narrow path along basalt cliffs <em>(Cable Trail)<\/em><\/strong> from where small waterfalls cascade down into the deep canyon where Eagle Creek is winding its way. You can continue your hike to <em>Loowit Falls, High Bridge, Tunnel, and Twister Falls<\/em> and turn around wherever you feel like it. But to see the falls you don\u2019t have to hike at all. So why not take a look at <em>Latourell Falls<\/em>, the <strong>third-tallest waterfall in the <em>Columbia River Gorge<\/em><\/strong> that\u2019s located even closer to Portland? The <em>Latourell Falls loop trail<\/em> is an <strong>easy Oregon hike <\/strong>that <strong>takes you to two roaring waterfalls<\/strong> that in my opinion make for some <strong>Icelandic photo ops<\/strong>. Hood<\/em>, ideally seeing a reflection of the snow-capped hood, 2 lakes come to my mind: <em>Trillium Lake<\/em> and <em>Mirror Lake<\/em>. While <em>Trillium Lake<\/em> is easily accessible in summer with a parking lot and recreation area directly at the lake, <strong><em>Mirror Lake<\/em> is a bit more of an effort<\/strong> to get to and the reason why it makes it to my list of best Oregon hikes. If 3.7 miles aren\u2019t satisfying you, you can <strong>continue your hike to <em>Tom, Dick &amp; Harry Mountain<\/em><\/strong> with even more <strong>jaw-dropping views of <em>Mirror Lake<\/em> and <em>Mt. Hood<\/em><\/strong>. This is also a great Oregon winter hike, especially if you want to beat the crowds in summer. The hike leads along the Sandy River which at one point you\u2019ll need to cross. The old bridge that used to connect the trail was washed out so that hikers have to balance over logs to get to the other side of Sandy River which makes this an adventurous undertaking. At this point, views of Mt. Hood open up. Don\u2019t get distracted when crossing the river and be extremely careful! It\u2019s <strong>easily accessible<\/strong>, the trailhead starts right off Highway 35 between <em>Hood River<\/em> and <em>Parkdale in Mt. Hood National Forest<\/em> and takes you in <strong>less than 4 miles without too much elevation gain <\/strong>to a 110-foot (33 m) plunging waterfall. It\u2019s especially beautiful in winter when the cliffs and maybe the <strong>waterfall itself might be frozen or at least covered in snow<\/strong>. Due to the higher elevation you\u2019ve better chances of seeing this waterfall snow-covered than waiting until a snowstorm hits the waterfalls in the <em>Columbia River Gorge<\/em>. While the trail mostly leads to the forest without views on the way the <strong>bird\u2019s eye view from of <em>Nehalem Bay<\/em> the summit is breathtaking<\/strong>. It\u2019s a steep climb, so don\u2019t underestimate it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are 2 trails from where you can hike up <em>Neahkahnie Mountain<\/em>: The <em>South Trailhead<\/em> (a bit shorter and less steep) and the <em>North Trailhead<\/em>. You can also <strong>combine both trails and hike a loop<\/strong>. This just means you\u2019ll have to walk the last 1.5 miles back to your car on the side of the road. No ATVs (and dogs) between March and September, isn\u2019t that great? &#8211; At least talking about ATVs\u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The<em> John Dellenback Dunes Trail<\/em> is a very unique experience not only for this reason. You\u2019ll <strong>start walking in the forest before entering soft sand dunes that eventually lead you to the Pacific Ocean<\/strong>. Boardman \u2013 Oregon\u2019s wild coast<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If I\u2019d to rate Oregon\u2019s most scenic coastal stretches <em>Samuel H. Boardman<\/em> would make it to the top of my list. <strong>Rugged cliffs, old-growth forest, secluded coves,<\/strong> <strong>and iconic sea stacks make the Southern Oregon Coast so special<\/strong>. At <em>Samuel H. Boardman Scenic Corridor<\/em> this beauty is squeezed into a relatively short stretch that surpasses all imagination. When visiting Smith Rock State Park you\u2019ll already be transported into a very different part of Oregon as it marks the getaway to the high desert. Say goodbye to the lush green forest and hi to orange-brown rock formations, climbers\u2019 paradise, and spectacular views. The <em>Blue Basin Overlook Trail<\/em> leads uphill across rocky terrain with <strong>views of the surrounding badlands and down the<em> John Day River<\/em> valley<\/strong>. While the National Park can easily be visited by car, there is one hike that you cannot miss: The <em>Watchman Peak<\/em> offers the <strong>best views of the park with comparatively little effort<\/strong>. The hike is <strong>pretty short but steep<\/strong>.
